Lady Eridani's real name is Edonia, a rather common name for the end of the reign of Richard. Her father was an Irish crusader and an astronomer. His valorous service also earned him the gratitude of an English nobleman who gave him his daughter in marriage and a nice bit of property on the Trent river, Alrewas. He saw the southern stars and nicknamed his only child Eridani after a constellation he saw on his journeys. Being the only child of a scholar, she was well educated. Eridani is a poet, bard, and court poet to the Duchess Elena.
